National Collegiate Ultimate Series 2008

The National Collegiate Ultimate Series for Spring 2008 will consist of 3 Premier NCUS Events (Trouble in Vegas, The Stanford Invite, Centex) and 1 additional NCUS Event (Warm Up: A Florida Affair). Teams receive points by finishing in the top 8 of any Premier NCUS Event, and the top 2 for other NCUS Events. The team that has acquired the most points by the end of the last NCUS event, Centex, will receive the Grand Prize in their division. Other prizes will be awarded to participating teams based on their final NCUS rankings, as determined by points aggregated throughout the Series.

Warm Up: A Florida Affair

January 19-20, 2008

Orlando, FL

With the 3 most competitive fields of the Regular Season (Trouble in Vegas, The Stanford Invite, and Centex) assembled west of the Mississippi, the need for a tournament of equal strength on the East Coast became apparent. Orlando, Florida, with its endless days of sun and ample supply of fields seemed the logical destination to rival the established draw of Las Vegas, Palo Alto, and Austin . Warm Up, A Florida Affair, will feature 20+ teams on January 19-20, 2008. With 375 points on the line for the winner and 200 points for the Runner-Up, Warm-Up: A Florida Affair could go a long way to determining who receives a check for the Grand Prizes in late March in Texas.

Trouble in Vegas

February 8-10, 2008

Las Vegas, NV

The first Trouble in Vegas was held in 2006, attracting the largest field of college teams ever assembled, 64 Men's Teams and 32 Women's Teams. Two years later and the field just keeps growing. 2008 Trouble in Vegas will be not only the largest college tournament, but the largest ultimate tournament held EVER. The Men's field is comprised of College Ultimate's top programs like two-time tournament Champion Florida, and defending National Champion Wisconsin (the 2007 Finalists); nationally competitive teams from across the country, like Michigan State, Harvard, Washington, and Texas A&M; and smaller Regional and B teams from the Southwest. The Women's field is similar in composition, featuring teams like 2006 National Runner-Up UCLA and 2007 National Runner-Up UC-Santa Barbara, NYU and Tufts, Texas and Arizona, and Lewis & Clark and Cal Sate-Long Beach. This NCUS Premier Event is held over three days and is one of the most complete examinations of a team's chances at a National Title.

The Stanford Invite

March 8-9, 2008

Palo Alto, CA

The Stanford Invite has long been one of the most prestigious tournaments of the Spring Season. With its history of attracting the most exclusive fields in both the Men's and Women's Division, The Stanford Invite has stood the test of time, and remains one of the best previews of how the National Championship will play out in May. Both the Men's and Women's Divisions are comprised of 15 invited teams, and one team who has won The Stanford Qualifier the previous weekend. Men's Host Stanford, who has appeared in the National SemiFinals four consecutive seasons, had won three consecutive Championships from 2002 to 2004, until Wisconsin won in 2005, followed by Florida in 2006 and Georgia in 2007. In the Women's Division, host Stanford, who holds four National Tiles in the last five seasons, also had won the Championship four straight years before UCLA claimed the championship last year.

Centex

March 22-23, 2008

Austin, TX

The beautiful Intramural Fields at the University of Texas in Austin form the backdrop for Centex, which has become the most competitive tournament of the Spring Season, attracting the deepest field of Nationally competitive teams. In all four years in the Men's Division, the Centex Champion had advanced to the National Championship Final. The Men's field features 24 teams, and the Women's field 16, and has included all but two of the National Quarterfinalists in the Men's Division in four years. Only the Stanford women in 2005 and the Wisconsin men in 2007 have won both Centex and the National Championship. Centex is the most grueling test of the Spring Season, requiring the Men's Champion to win 8 games over two days and the Women's Champion to win seven.

Earning NCUS points:

Points will be awarded to all teams who qualify for the Championships Brackets at a Premier NCUS event, and the finalists of any NCUS event. Championship Brackets begin at Quarterfinals in the highest division represented at an event. See the point system section for more details.
