The NCUS Point System:

  • Points will be awarded to all teams who qualify for the Quarterfinals in the highest division represented at a Premier NCUS Event according to Table A, and the Finalists of all other NCUS Events according to Table A.1.
  • Equal finishes at any single Premier NCUS Event are worth the same point value.
  • Point values are adjusted to reward high finishes across multiple Premier NCUS Events.
  • Advancing to the Finals of a Premier NCUS Event increases the value of finishes in two ways:
  • 1) Increased value of subsequent Championship or Finals finishes according to Table B
    2) Increased value of all previous and future finishes outside of the Championship Game according to Table C

  • Finishes at any NCUS Event are worth a fixed point value according to Table A.1. These values are not associated with adjustments of any other point value.

Tiebreaking Procedures

In the event that teams are tied with the most points in the series, the tie will be broken in this way:

  • 1) Most Wins in Premier Events
  • 2) Progression of Results*

*If teams are tied with one WIN, one FINAL, and one SEMIFINAL, the team with the most recent WIN would be considered the winner. (In the case where the two highest teams do not have a win, the next highest finish breaks the tie. The team with the most recent highest finish would be considered the winner.)

Examples

Example A

Team X attends two of the three tournaments and wins one and makes the Final of a second. Team y attends all three tournaments, wins one, and makes the Quarterfinals in both of the other two.
Team X would receive the following points:

  • 1025 for the Championship
  • 1000 for the Final

Team Y would receive the following points:

  • 1000 for the Championship
  • 1200 for the Quarterfinals (finishing 7/8 is 600 for each)

Resolution

Team Y would be ahead of Team X in the Final Standings with 2200 pts to 2025pts.*
*Making the Finals at a Championship or placing in the Top 8 of a Premier Championship would have Team X ahead of Team Y.

Example B

At the conclusion of the National Collegiate Ultimate Series, three different teams have each won a Premier Championship.

Team A has won Trouble In Vegas, and made the SemiFinals at The Stanford Invite and Centex

Team B has won The Stanford Invite, made the Finals at Centex, and made the Quarterfinals at Trouble in Vegas

Team C has won Centex, made the SemiFinals at Trouble In Vegas, and finished in the Top 6 at The Stanford Invite

Team A would receive the following points:

  • 1000 for Trouble In Vegas
  • 1550 for SemiFinals at The Stanford Invite and Centex (775 for each)

Team B would receive the following points:

  • 1025 for The Stanford Invite
  • 1000 for Centex
  • 600 for Trouble In Vegas

Team C would receive the following points:

  • 1000 for Centex
  • 775 for SemiFinals at Trouble In Vegas
  • 650 for Finishing 5/6 at The Stanford Invite

Resolution

The Final Standings would be:
Team B -- 2625
Team A -- 2550
Team C -- 2425

The NCUS reserves the right to adjust or revise the point system until January 18, 2008.
