CCS to become National Collegiate Ultimate Series (NCUS)

With the 2008 season now starting to hit its stride, a minor but important change has happened, but it is significant in name only. The National Collegiate Ultimate Series has replaced the Collegiate Championships Series, in an effort to fully distinguish the newly created series of tournaments.

The switch, including a move to a new home on the web, www.collegiateultimate.com, does not impact any further details of the former CCS. Warm Up: A Florida Affair was the first event of the NCUS Men's Division, with 120 teams set to participate in the first Premier Event of the Season in a week at Trouble In Vegas, including the kick-off of the Women's Division.

The switch was made primarily to create a more clear distinction from the UPA's College Championship Series, which includes Sectional and Regional Qualifying tournaments beginning in April and extending to the first weekend in May, and culminates in the UPA College Championships to be played in Boulder, Colorado on May 16th-18th.

The teams that finish atop the Final Standings of the National Collegiate Ultimate Series will receive Grand Prizes of $5000 in the Men's Division and $2000 in the Women's Divisions. Prizes will also be awarded to teams finishing in second and third places in each Division. NCUS 2008

The National Collegiate Ultimate Series unites the most competitive College Ultimate tournaments of the spring season into a cohesive Series. The NCUS was designed to enhance the sport's competitive structure and showcase the game's highest levels.

Participating teams will be awarded points based on their finishes at sanctioned events (see tournaments section for complete schedule), which will be used to determine the 2008 NCUS Final Rankings.

This website is an information resource for College Ultimate fans, media and others interested in how the NCUS system works. Please check this site regularly for news about the NCUS and its Championship Tournaments
