Shortly after adding the defending National Champion Wisconsin to the ranks of all three Premier Events of the National Collegiate Ultimate Series, the 2007 Runner-Up committed as well. Colorado is the only program to have qualified for the UPA Championships in every year since the redraw of Regions after the '98 season. In this decade, only Wisconsin matches Colorado's run at the top of the College Division. Colorado has played on the last day of the season in three of the last four years, matching last year's National Runner-Up finish in 2005, dropping a heartbreaking 15-14 decision to Brown. In 2004, Colorado made the Finals of Centex, falling to California-Berkeley 15-14, but avenged the loss with a 15-7 blowout in Seattle to claim the program's first National Title.
While rumors are swirling about the roster status of two of the Big Three, who all played integral roles in the three appearances in the National Final, it is certain that Jolian Dahl will anchor the 2008 campaign. Already being tapped as the front-runner for the Callahan, Dahl played outstanding in helping Boulder Johnny Bravo to the Finals of the UPA Club Championships in October. Should Dahl be joined by All-World talents Beau Kittredge and Martin Cochran, Colorado should be making plans to play yet again on the Sunday before Memorial Day. The high school system in Colorado rivals any in the nation, giving Coach Catt Wilson ample talent to keep Colorado at the top of the Division.
Colorado has been as dominant in the Regular Season the last four season's as it has in the UPA College Series, amassing a record of 129-19, a winning percentage of 87%. Dating back to 2004, Colorado is 27-4 at Centex, with only one of those losses coming on Saturday, a 13-10 loss to Kansas last season after Coach Wilson held members of the Big Three out of the first half for arriving late. A 15-14 loss to Florida in 2006, and last year's 15-11 loss to Wisconsin, both in the Semifinals have followed since a tournament Championship in 2005, 15-13 winners over Florida. The team has an impressive history at San Diego's Presidents' Day tournament, including a tournament title in 2004, but has been yet unable to equal that success at Trouble in Vegas, eliminated in the Quarterfinals by British Columbia in 2006 and in the Semifinals at the hands of Florida last season. Colorado has not attended The Stanford Invite since 2000, further ensconcing the early-March Championship as one of the strongest fields of the Regular Season.
The National Collegiate Ultimate Series unites the most competitive College Ultimate tournaments of the spring season into a cohesive Series. The NCUS was designed to enhance the sport's competitive structure and showcase the game's highest levels.
Participating teams will be awarded points based on their finishes at sanctioned events (see tournaments section for complete schedule), which will be used to determine the 2008 NCUS Final Rankings.
This website is an information resource for College Ultimate fans, media and others interested in how the NCUS system works. Please check this site regularly for news about the NCUS and its Championship Tournaments
Points will be awarded to all teams who qualify for the Championships Brackets at a Gold Level NCUS tournament, and the finalists of any Silver Level NCUS tournament. Championship Brackets begin at Quarterfinals in the highest division represented at an event. See the point system section for more details.
