Defending UPA College Champion Wisconsin Commits to NCUS

Defending National Champion Wisconsin has committed to attend the three Premier Championship Events of the NCUS. Wisconsin is the two-time defending Champion at Centex, was a SemiFinalist at Trouble In Vegas in 2006, and a Finalist in 2007. Wisconsin last attended The Stanford Invite in 2005, when it won a rain-shortened one-day version of the tournament with a victory over Georgia.

Wisconsin has put together back-to-back outstanding campaigns. In 2006, the team amassed a record of 48-3 including five tournament titles, finishing as the National Runner-Up. Last season, the team went an incredible 55-1 with seven tournament titles, adding a second National Title to the program's 2003 UPA College Title. Having qualified for every Nationals this decade, and with four National Finals appearances in the last six seasons, Wisconsin stands as one of the most distinguished programs in the country.

Nearly the entire roster returns from their triumphant campaign in Columbus, anchored by Jim Foster and five-year veteran Matt Rebholz, captains in 2008. The team will continue to field the most intimidating defensive team in the country with the likes of Drew Mahowald, Shane Hohenstein, and Will Lokke. The program's success has been built on that defensive intensity, from the top to the bottom of the roster, and this season looks to be no different. Results similar to the last two seasons would position Wisconsin for the NCUS Grand Prize and a repeat of last season's result; National Champions.
