While the UPA Championships seem to be Stanford Superfly's personal playground, the Regular Seasons of the last two years have been anything but. Last season, Stanford failed to make the final of either The Stanford Invite or Centex, and did not attend Trouble in Vegas, and would have been fourth in the Final National Collegiate Ultimate Series Standings.
In spite of putting together one of the most dominant Seasons from start to finish in 2006, finishing with a record of 41-1, Stanford's performance in the National Collegiate Ultimate Series was rivaled by Colorado, and would have made the Series come down to the wire.
Trouble In Vegas saw Colorado Kali defeat UCLA Blu to establish the early lead over a Stanford team that was enjoying Hawaii. With the Series coming home to Stanford in early March, the two heavyweights squared off, with the home team taking a decisive 10-5 decision in howling winds. In spite of the loss, the consistency through the first two tournaments gave Kali the clear advantage in the Standings: Colorado 2400 points, Stanford 1000 points.
Stanford would need a Tournament Championship at Centex and an upset of Colorado in PreQuarters. Superfly put itself in positions, but Kali was not to be denied at this point in the Season, advancing to the Finals and drubbing Stanford 13-6 to put an exclamation mark on its National Collegiate Ultimate Series.

Last Season would not have produced such a clear frontrunner as Colorado, but looking at the finish at the UPA Championships, two different teams were vying for the top spot in the National Collegiate Ultimate Series Standings than played on Sunday for the National Title.
Cal-Berkeley Pie Queens set the tone for a wild Regular Season by winning Trouble in Vegas 13-8 over favorite UCLA Blu. UCLA would answer with a victory over Cal-Berkeley at The Stanford Invite. Wisconsin Bella Dona had made the SemiFinals at Trouble In Vegas, and won Terminus in lieu of attending The Stanford Invite, and looked like a favorite for the National Championship. Cal and UCLA were tied atop the standings heading into Centex. Mid-Series Standings: UCLA 2025, Cal-Berkeley 2025.
In another stunning result, Wisconsin who looked dominant through the first six games in Austin, fell decisively to UC-Santa Barbara Burning Skirts 13-6. UCLA and Cal had both lost in the SemiFinals, keeping them tied at the top of the final standings:

*UCLA would win the tie break based on a more recent Championship at The Stanford Invite compared to Cal-Berkeley's Championship at Trouble In Vegas. UCLA would fall to a surprising fate in Columbus, drawing Wisconsin in the Quarterfinals and advancing before losing in the Semi-finals to California-Santa Barbara.
The past two seasons, the team at the top of the National Collegiate Ultimate Series has fallen short of Sunday in Columbus. With Stanford having gone to Hawaii and not Las Vegas, their virtual lock on the Women's Division has not extended to the Collegiate Champ
